Laser Resurfacing and Skin Revitalization FAQs

If aging, acne, and sun damage have left your face with blotches, scars, wrinkles, or lines, laser skin resurfacing may help give your skin a tighter, younger looking surface.

Laser skin resurfacing (also known as a laser peel, laser vaporization, and lasabrasion) gives precise control in reducing unwanted skin surface issues, especially in delicate areas. Here are some of the most common questions and answers about laser skin revitalization.

What concerns can be treated by Laser Skin Revitalization & Resurfacing?

What is Laser Skin Revitalization?

Laser skin revitalization is a non-surgical approach to anti-aging treatments. Experience significant deep skin therapy with the ICON laser system to reveal glowing results. Designed to correct, improve, and rejuvenate, a laser treatment can improve facial skin tone and repair skin damaged by aging, sun, or injury.

Additionally, ICON is the only FDA approved non-ablative laser system used to treat stretch marks. With ICON, we can address all of your skin concerns at the same time! Treatments do not require any surgery, and there is little to no downtime involved. You may be able to come in for a quick procedure and then return to your routine schedule immediately.

How does ICON work?

  • The ICON laser system treats moderate-to-severe acne scars, wrinkles, stretch marks, and surgical scars. We can target multiple skin concerns during a single treatment session.
  • The MaxG handpiece uses intense pulsed light (IPL) technology to minimize spider veins, vascular lesions, age spots, hyperpigmentation, and redness. The 1540 fractional laser stimulates collagen and elastin production, which helps to firm up the skin, smooth and reduce wrinkles, surgical scars, acne scars, and stretch marks. The procedure is minimally invasive and requires little to no downtime. We can customize your session based on your concerns and your goals.

What can I expect during treatments?

During your initial consultation, we will create a custom treatment plan just for you. We perform ICON laser skin revitalization as an in-office treatment. After we cleanse your skin, we may apply a topical numbing cream to cool your skin and help minimize any discomfort you might feel during the treatment

During the procedure, you may receive treatment with the 1540 fractional laser, IPL, or both. This will depend on the skin concerns that you are looking to address. Using our specialized handpieces, we will make a few passes on your skin to induce collagen and elastin production. After the session is over, you can expect some minor redness or swelling. This should fade eventually, and aside from needing to protect yourself from the sun, you can return to your normal activities right away.

When should I expect to see results?*

Although patients usually notice visible improvements after one treatment, a series of 3-4 treatments are generally recommended to achieve optimal results. This is especially true if you are looking to improve the tone, texture, and appearance of your skin. Five treatments may be needed to treat stretch marks.

Immediately after the procedure, you may notice darkening of the treated skin. This is normal, and the outer layers of your skin will soon exfoliate to reveal younger-looking, smoother skin. As your skin produces new elastin and collagen, you may notice a gradual reduction in wrinkles. Over several months, you may see firmer, healthier-looking skin.

* Individual results may vary; not a guarantee.
