Microblading FAQs

If you struggle with thin, sparse eyebrows and are tired of trying to fill them in every day, microblading can be a fantastic way to save time in the morning and achieve the full, thick brows you’ve always wanted.

What is Microblading?

Microblading is the artistic technique of tattooing individual hair strokes with a handheld tool called a microblade. Unlike traditional tattooing, which uses a machine, our microblading artists hand draw each hair to match the color and coarseness of your eyebrows. The results are gorgeous, natural looking eyebrows. Request a consultation to learn more.

How long is the appointment?

There are a series of appointments needed for microblading.

  • The initial 30 minute consultation explains the procedure and confirms you are an appropriate candidate. “Before” photos are taken, and the consent form is reviewed and signed.
  • Your treatment appointment generally takes 2-3 hours, with most of the time spent going over colors and mapping eyebrow shapes. The microblading portion lasts 30-45 minutes.
  • Finally, you will return for a 4-6 week recheck for any final touches to make your brows perfect!

Does the treatment hurt?

We use topical numbing to keep you as comfortable as possible during the treatment.

What kind of pigments are used?

We use iron oxide pigments that are safe for your skin. The pigment will fade naturally over time. The tattooing is considered semi-permanent. We will work together to identify the best color for the most natural appearance.

What medications affect microblading?

Accutane/Retin-A – Individuals who have been taking acne medications such as Accutane or Retin-A within the last year have an altered skin condition that will not heal well after the procedure. It’s very important that you wait a year before tattooing the skin. Similarly, Retinol and Vitamin A users should discontinue the use of each a month prior to their procedure.

Latisse – Eyelash and eyebrow growth serum bring extra circulation (aka blood flow) to the area resulting in more growth of hair/lashes. Do not underestimate the power of these products! If you have been using Latisse or any other eyelash or eyebrow growth conditioners, the skin in that area is in a hypersensitive state and will bleed easily. Be mindful to discontinue using these at least 3-6 months.

Are there any other contraindications for microblading?

You are NOT a candidate if you have any of these conditions:

  • Pregnant
  • History of Keloids or Hypertrophic scarring
  • Diabetic (require doctor’s clearance)
  • Active chemotherapy treatment (consult your doctor)
  • Viral infections and/or diseases
  • Epilepsy
  • Pacemaker or major heart problems
  • Organ transplant
  • Skin irritations or Psoriasis near the treated area (rashes, sunburn, acne, etc.)
  • Accutane in the past year
  • Heart conditions, Uncontrolled High Blood Pressure, Poor general health.
  • Any treatment, medication, or illness that compromises the immune system / healing would make you NOT a good candidate for micropigmentation procedures.

How long is downtime after the procedure?

Your eyebrows may be a little darker for a couple of days, but you will only have very minimal swelling. You can return to normal activities the same day, but avoid alcohol because it can lead to an increase in sweating or bruising.

Can I wear makeup after my microblading procedure?

Do not wear makeup directly on your brows for at least two weeks after your procedure, but feel free to use makeup on the rest of your face, if desired.

How often should I have it done?

Permanent makeup can last about 2 years or longer, depending on your skin type, lifestyle, and activities. We recommend getting a touch-up every 18-36 months to maintain your results. Request a consultation and a member of our team will be in touch soon!
